Established in 1989, Remírez de Ganuza was set up as a personal enterprise by its founder, Fernando Remírez de Ganuza. From the outset the idea has been the same: Rigorous grape selection and minimal interference in the winemaking. This philosophy allows them to be as faithful as possible both to the vintage and the vineyard. The business developed by Fernando in the 1970s and 1980s in the northern area of Rioja allowed him to select the most suitable plots in the region to carry out his new project.

In 2001, Jesus Mendoza became head oenologist. Jesus has been part of the technical team since 1994 and his knowledge and passion for winemaking together with his eye for detail are key to the continuous improvement of Remírez de Ganuza wines through the years.

The vineyards are made up over eighty hectares of Tempranillo, Graciano, Grenache, Viura and Malvasia varieties. They are spread out through two hundred and forty plots in the Sierra Cantabria mountain area.
