Domaine Jean Chauvenet

This 10ha domaine is recognised for producing elegant and stylish wines in Nuits-St-Georges.

Run by Christophe Drag and his wife, Christine, they work to a single golden rule: the utmost respect for the expression of each terroir to yield a variety of wines.

Vinification, followed by 18 months’ elevage in oak barrels (around 20% new wood), preserve the marked character of each terroir, the wines being subjected to neither filtration nor fining. The wines differ in temperament, according to whether they come from the north or south of the Nuits-Saint-Georges district.

Since 1994, the domaine has turned to low-input cultivation which aims to minimise the use of chemical treatments and is working towards certification. Since 2003, the vines have been grassed-down, with the aim to limit soil-erosion and temper the soil’s natural vigour in the interests of restricted yield.
