Santa Margherita

Santa Margherita has been at the forefront of winemaking technology ever since its inception back in 1935. Its founder, Gaetano Marzotto, dreamed of modernized agriculture that unites man, nature and technology, and his ingenious intuition, curiosity and focus on the future created a solid foundation for the company.

Their approach to winemaking is eco-friendly, revolving around the use of renewable energy sources, natural products, and growing processes that protect the health and well-being of the vineyards. One way they do this is by using copper and sulphur in their growing practices, and compost made from pruned vegetation to feed the soil at their production centre.

Their grapes are strategically grown in estate vineyards that surround the winery. Instead of sourcing wine bottles from outside companies, they create their own. In fact, up to 65% of their green glass is made of recycled material. Furthermore, their glass production facility is so close to the fermentation cellars that they can share power resources. This reduces pollutants related to storage and transportation emissions.
