Te Awa Left Field Chardonnay 2010

Product code: 15TEA50B2010

This wine benefits from 9 months lees contact which imparts a delightful creaminess to the wine. The comparisons with white burgundy are inevitable but justified, it is well balanced and restrained.

Production information

Producer: Te Awa

Te Awa is a single estate situated in the Gimblett Gravels area of Hawkes Bay, New Zealand’s premium red wine producing area. Hotter than Bordeaux and with similar gravely soils to Graves, it is unsurprising that this region produces fine examples of Bordeaux blends with some exciting Chardonnay and Syrah to boot. If you didn’t think New Zealand could make red wines that weren’t Pinot Noir, think again!

Production note

Individual parcels of fruit were picked on successive cool mornings and pressed and juice settled for 24 hours. Once that fermentation was complete the young wine rests on its yeast lees for nine months prior to blending and bottling.
