Product guide note

All wines from the Stellenrust Estate are certified Fairtrade and proceeds from wine sales are invested back into the local community. This wine made from the Chenin Blanc grape has tropical fruit flavours and mineral notes along with a touch of vanilla from some partial ageing in oak barrels.

Production information

Producer: Stellenrust

Stellenrust bottled its first wine on the farm in 1928. Today the winery is run by the brothers Tertius (winemaker) and Kobus (viticulturist), and is one of the largest family-run Fairtrade estates in Stellenbosch, with 500 hectares of land under vine.  The brothers are committed to following their father’s dream: to give back to the workers, who themselves had given so much to the farm.

Production note

Grapes from Bottelary Hills. Planted in ironstone and decomposed granite soil. 30 -35 years of age and everything old bushvine. 10% fermented in older French oak barrels. Rest fermented in stainless steel. Both portions wild yeast fermented and blended after 4 months lees contact.
