Moulin La L agune 2009

Product code: 6LALA2B2009

A ripe, black fruit nose. Consistent in the mouth, well integrated tannins and a lovely fruity finish. A certain opulence is present due to the characteristics of the vintage, but there is also much freshness, elegance and balance in the wine. It is a perfect expression of the terroir of La Lagune. Certainly one of the best Moulin de La Lagune vintages since 2000.

Production information

Producer: Chateau La Lagune

Since 1999, the quality at La Lagune has improved in leaps and bounds. The Frey family (who also recently acquired Paul Jaboulet & Aine in the Rhone including the famed Hermitage La Chapelle) have a habit of changing the fortunes of floundering wineries with excellent terroir by focusing on the inherent quality present and investing in the winery and vineyard. A new cuverie was built in 2004 and since then, the fruit has expressed itself with an intensity and class that belies its third Cru Classe status.

Production note

The grapes are gathered by hand and then transferred to the chai in small baskets where the berries are meticulously sorted ; first by hand and then by high-tech tri-optic lasers. A gravity-controlled system them transports them into stainless steel tanks for the winemaking process to begin. Ageing of the wine is completed in oak barrels according to traditional methods. The final assemblage of La Lagune’s three wines is then completed in the last phase of ageing. Moulin de La Lagune is matured in our chai in exclusively French oak barrels, of which 20% is renewed each year. After approximately 12 months of ageing, a final refinement with egg whites is completed just prior to bottling.
