Moonriver Pinot Grigio 2009

Product code: 27MOON1B2009

A refreshing Pinot Grigio from an exciting new area of Hungary, produced from grapes grown on the shore of the Danube. Delicate peach and grapefruit characters combined with a ripe and zesty flavour and great minerality. This has more in common with Pinot Gris than its Italian style which it carries the name of.

Production information

Producer: Moon River

Neszmely is a key wine region of Transdanubia, northern Hungary. They grow a selection of French and regional grape varieties, which both suit the climate and the food. The Moon River vineyards are situated on warm loess soil overlooking the Danube, these prime sites impart an easily distinguishable identity to the wines grown here, with the climate slightly milder than in Hungary's more southern wine regions.

Production note

Harvested in mid September, the grapes were destemmed and crushed then gently pressed. Having settled the must for 24 hours it was inoculated with cultivated yeast. Fermentation took 2 weeks and it happened at a low temperature at 11-12°C, subsequently the wine was kept on fine lees for 3 months.
