Product guide note

This wine is from the village of Meursault in Burgundy and is a classic Meursault in just about every way; nutty, toasty oak with citrus, apple and melon fruit. The grape variety used is Chardonnay but the wine has a much fuller style than Chablis.

Production information

Producer: Domaine Michelot

Jean-Michel Mestre, the son-in-law of Bernard Michelot assumed control of this domaine in 1993 and has slowly built a reputation as one of Meursault’s best growers, no mean feat in a small village packed with winemaking talent. The wines have improved greatly in recent years here, a link up with Dijon University giving the domaine access to the latest vineyard technologies – a very useful advantage over their peers – and these efforts are showing through in the glass.

Production note

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in barrel as does the malolactic (25% new wood). Aged for 12 months in barrel and 2 months in vat before bottling. Fining done by bentonite if necessary. Very light filtration.
