Product guide note

Pinot Noir is the grape variety used to make this wine. It usually makes wines which are light in body and colour for red wine. This wine has very distinctive soft flavours and aromas of juicy strawberries, raspberries and red cherries with a touch of spice.

Production information

Producer: Madfish

The winery takes its name from MadFish Bay, which can found near Denmark in Western Australia's Great Southern, an area where, apparently, fish go loco. MadFish are wines with an emphasis on enjoyment and drinkability, producing a number of styles, namely the much-lauded MadFish Chardonnay and Shiraz, the Pinot Noir is pretty good too. The range is designed to reflect Western Australia’s laid-back lifestyle; both the packaging and juice are right on the money.

Production note

The grapes from each vineyard site are chilled prior to fermentation on skins in 4 tonne open fermenters. Each fermentation is allowed to naturally warm before gentle hand plunging releases just the right amount of flavour, tannin and colour from the skins. After gentle pressing, the wine is matured in French oak barriques for 18 months prior to blending, fining and bottling.
