Production information

Producer: La Guita

The La Guita winery was founded by Domingo Perez Marin in 1852. Some say that the winery's name comes from the old Andalucian slang 'guita' meaning 'cash', as founder Domingo Perez Marin was well-known for preferring to be paid cash-in-hand. But the more likely explanation is that 'guita' means 'string' and this is referenced by the small piece of string that adorns every bottle - an homage to the brand's humble beginnings. Read more

Production note

The grapes used in Manzanilla 'La Guita' are grown in Pago de Miraflores vineyards, where the vines are between 15 to 25 years old and the soil is a chalky white colour that is very high in calcium carbonate and traces of sand, due to its proximity to the sea. The sherry is aged under the veil of yeast (Biological ageing) using the Solera System in our Bodegas in Sanlúcar de Barrameda for five years.
