Production information

Producer: Domaine Lafage

Jean-Marc Lafage’s family has been growing grapes in Roussillon for six generations but it was Jean-Marc who had the ambition to stop selling the grapes to the local co-op and create a domaine. He and his oenologist wife, Eliane, founded Domaine Lafage in 1996 and the estate now runs to some 138 hectares of vines across Roussillon, with parcels in the Agly Valley, Aspres and Perpignan.

Production note

The grapes are hand harvested in 2 lots. The first picked at 11.5% volume and the other left on the vine longer to ripen more. Second picked lightly overripe to give complexity to the blend. Maceration on fine lies before racking. Blend before fermentation. Malolactic fermentation in barrel for 10% of this wine. 30% of new French barrel fermented and aged with weekly batonnages. 70% of stainless steel fermented wines ages on fine lees for 3 months.
