This wine is made from the Pinot Noir grape and comes from the 'Nuits St Georges' region in Burgundy. It has perfumed aromas and flavours of red berry fruits with some earthy notes too. Wines from Nuits-St-Georges tend to be fuller in style than other wines from this region.

The Chauvenet family can trace their viticultural roots back as far as 1680, although the major expansion of this Nuits St. Georges domaine came with the arrival of Jean Chauvenet in 1969. Jean increased the holdings of premier cru and the amount of wine bottled under their own label, increasing the overall quality of the wine. The wines are approachable in their youth but still with all of the power, concentration and complexity that they have always had.

Production note

Grapes are manually harvested. The technique used calls for 100% de-stemming and pre-fermentation maceration at 10-12°C for 5-6 days in a concrete tank. The wine is vinified at 28-32°C for 18 to 21 days with two cap immersions per day to incite colour extraction and the presence of phenolic compounds. Following pneumatic pressing, the wines undergo decantation for 2-3 days in a holding vat before barrelling (15% new barrels). The first racking occurs the following September and the second a mont
