Product guide note

Rioja is Spain’s best known wine. It is made from a blend of different grape varieties; Tempranillo (pronounced tem-pra-nee-yow) usually dominating. The word “Reserva” on the label indicates that this wine has plenty of ageing in both barrel and in bottle. The principle flavours are strawberries, red cherries and spicy oak with notes of tobacco.

Production note

The grapes are handpicked and quickly transported to the winery. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 24 months (50% new oak and 50% second use), and then for a further 4 months in larger oak vats. The wine then spends 24 months ageing in bottle before release.
