Product guide note

Brouilly comes from the Beaujolais region in France. It is one of 10 special villages that often produce better wine. The wines from this region are soft and juicy with flavours of raspberries and strawberries. This wine is very juicy, light and easy drinking and can even be served slightly chilled.

Production information

Producer: Chateau Moulin Favre

Moulin Favre is exactly the sort of producer that is so exciting to discover on buying trips in France. Production is small, marketing almost non-existent but the enthusiasm infectious and the wine fantastic. Celine Vernus, who doubles up as an English teacher, and husband Armand make wine in 3 Beaujolais Crus and all from old vines, but the Brouilly with its concentrated ripe fruit and fresh acidity is easily the pick of the bunch.

Production note

The wine is made in the traditional Beaujolais way using semi-carbonic maceration, followed by long post-fermentation maceration on skins.
