Product guide note

This wine is from a region called Bergerac to the east of the Bordeaux region. It is made using similar grapes to Bordeaux with Merlot being dominant. It has fruit aromas of blackcurrants and strawberry notes along with touches of spicy oak.

Producer: Chateau Monestier La Tour

Chateau Monestier La Tour, a 28ha estate in Monestier near Bergerac, was purchased in 1998 by Dutch entrepreneur Philip de Haseth-Moeller. Consultant winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt and consultant viticulturalist Claude Bourguignon have helped catapult this chateau to the top echelons of Bergerac with great write-ups in France’s leading guide books.

Production note

Slow fermentation in stainless steel vats from 27-30°C with indigenous yeast. Post fermentation maceration from 15 to 20 days. Malolactic fermentation in vats and the wine is then blended and racked into barrels. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak.
