Product guide note

This is from a region of France called Bordeaux, and red wines from here are usually called Claret. This wine is dry and medium-bodied, with flavours and aromas of spicy oak, black fruit and liquorice. It’s mainly made from the Merlot grape variety.

Production information

Producer: Chateau Lamartre

Chateau Lamartre is owned by the Union de Saint-Emilion, by far the largest producer on the right bank. With a huge portfolio of producers and growers, we are able to work closely with the UDPSE to produce wines aimed squarely at the UK market that really over-deliver for the price. With many wine lovers seeking right bank claret as a ‘default choice’ on a list, these are very handy wines to have around.

Production note

The wines are fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats with a long post-fermentation maceration. Fining and filtration takes place before bottling. The wine is aged in vats and in oak barrels.
