Production information

Producer: Chateau Cantelys

Owned by Florence and Daniel Cathiard, both Olympic skiers turned vignerons, Cantelys is a stable mate and near neighbour of the great Smith Haut Lafitte. The vineyards are located on an outcrop of gravel in Rochemorin in the heart of Pessac, a rather enviable spot. The wines are made at Smith Haut Lafitte by the same winemaking team and receive the same TLC in the cellar. Both red and white are text book Graves and are capable of ageing very well in the cellar.

Production note

The grapes are picked by hand into shallow crates and sorted very carefully and then gently crushed and then fermented for 3-4 weeks at 30°C. After fermentation the wines are barrel-aged or 14 months and then fined with egg white.
