Like a lot of wines from Europe this wine is named after the region where it is from. Chianti is a region in Tuscany, Italy. It is made from the Sangiovese grape (pronounced Sanjee-ohvayzee) and has refreshing, red cherry and plum flavours.

Producer: Castellani

Castellani has over a century of winemaking history in Tuscany, exporting its wines since 1903 from the family base near Pisa. Still family owned and managed by Piergiorgio Castellani, this Tuscan empire now includes five separate estates dotted around the region, from the Fattoria di Travalda in the Arno valley, to the Campomaggio vineyards in the heart of Chianti Classico.

Production note

Completely mature grapes are harvested from vineyards before old, traditional vinification methods are used. The grapes are processed in membrane presses. The fermentation takes place in controlled temperatures with prolonged maceration on the skins.
