Product guide note

This wine is made by one of the heroes of Pinot Noir, Josh Jensen. It has a rich, smooth texture with concentrated flavours of blackberries , liquorice and herbs. The after taste is warm and fresh.

Calera's history goes back more than 30 years, to when Josh Jensen fell in love with the wines of Burgundy and decided to turn it into his life's work. Having won a rowing blue at Oxford, Josh spent two years working at Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and Domaine Dujac before returning to his native California convinced that the key to emulating Vosne-Romanee or Morey St-Denis was to find limestone soils.

Production note

Hand harvested before half is fermented in whole clusters, the remaining grapes were de-stemmed prior to fermentation. Fermented with native yeasts in open top fermenters. After 14 days the wines were pressed and moved by gravity to oak barrels, mostly Francois Freres barrels, 10% new, for 11 months. Bottled unfiltered.
