Maison Roche de Bellene
Nicolas is the son of the late, great Gerard Potel, who managed Volnay’s Domaine Pousse d’Or, until his untimely death in 1997. Following his father’s death, the financiers who owned the domaine sold out leaving Nicolas without his family home and expected winemaking legacy. His response was to found a micro-negociant business, renting vines and buying grapes from friends and growers across the Cote d’Or.
Nicolas’ new business was phenomenally successful and propelled into the A-List of Burgundy producers. However, disaster struck in 2009 when he lost control of the company and was forced to start again. Maison Roche de Bellene is Nicolas’ new project and we are pleased to report it is business as usual as Mr P continues to produce outstanding wines chock-full of terroir character.
