Like many French wines, this wine is named after the place where it comes from, Chablis. The grape variety used is Chardonnay and this wine has very clean and crisp flavours of apples and citrus fruit.

Francoise Chauvenet was actually founded by Francois Chauvenet in 1853. Francois (without the e) chose to name the business after his mother Francoise (with an e). Clearly, the family lacked inspiration when choosing children's names. The house is owned by Bouchard Aine who produce several good value wines under the label. Winemaker Laurent Mairet crafts attractive wines, designed to be approachable - a useful philosophy for Burgundy-philes who lack space or patience to cellar wines for decades.
