A classic Oregon Pinot Noir with intense fruit flavours. Initial perfumed aromatics redolent of violets and roses, black currants, blueberries, black raspberries and wild strawberries are joined by suggestions of tobacco leaf, clean earth, dried fruit, smoke and spice as the wine opens.
" A product of the very successful 2009 vintage in this region for Pinot Noir, this wine has meaty aromas on the nose, a touch of balsamic vinegar too. It's focussed and powerful on the palate, both the acidity and tannins are fresh but the wine is more about power than fruit, it seems. "

We hand pick, hand sort, and hand craft our wines using small fermenters and small French oak barrels and draw on years of experience in the Willamette Valley
Aged 10 months in: 28% new barrels, 35% 1-year old barrels, 37% 2-year or 3-year old barrels.

Pinot Noir is the grape variety used to make this wine. It is known as the “heartbreak grape” because it can be so hard to grow. It produces wine with crisp, red fruit which is fairly light for a red wine.
Elegant and subtle red cherry and cranberry notes on the nose, with a touch of spice and rose petal on the palate.

Rex Hill used to be a rundown fruit and nut drying farm of all things, before Paul Hart and Jan Jacobsen arrived 1982 and planted Pinot Noir vines, with Chardonnay and Pinot Gris following on as the winery became more established. The winery owns some of the oldest vines in the Willamette Valley and the wines are farmed in an environmentally friendly way as possible using biodynamic farming and sustainable business practices.
Since Paul and Jan's retirement in 2007, Deb and Bill Hatcher of A to Z Wineworks in Oregon have assumed control of the winery and are continuing the good work producing brilliant wines with fantastic purity of fruit.
Rex Hill is also making some great efforts to model sustainable practices with its employees, suppliers, the wider community.

This producer is neither certified organic, biodynamic nor ISO14001 but are notable for their drive and enthusiasm when it comes to taking action to protect the environment and to promote sustainability.
Biodynamic viticulture views the soil (and indeed the Earth) as a living entity with daily and seasonal rhythms influenced by the positions of the moon, planets and stars. A holistic approach respects these forces and implements the use of special preparations instead of chemicals which enhance the growing conditions. This wine is certified by bodies such as Demeter.
