The grape variety used to make this is Pinot Gris which is the same grape as Pinot Grigio. However, because of how it is made and the ripeness of the grapes this wine is richer and has lots of ripe, tropical fruit, spiciness and some crisp citrus fruit.

Established in 1996 after Claire and Mike Allan had done their time winemaking both in Champagne and elsewhere in Marlborough, Huia has quickly gone on to become synonymous with quality aromatic whites, Pinot Noir and sparkling wine from the Wairau Valley in Marlborough.
Huia’s wines are all about passion; for the wine, for the environment and for blending traditional and modern techniques to express the richness of some of Marlborough’s classic grapes.

Organic wines are made from organically grown grapes. Being organic means the vineyards cannot be treated with any type of chemical. The aim of the organic grape grower is to have healthy living soil both in the vineyard and surrounding area. This wine is made with grapes grown using organic viticulture with no chemical intervention and has been certified by an accredited body.
This winery is working towards biodynamic certification. Biodynamic viticulture views the soil (and indeed the Earth) as a living entity with daily and seasonal rhythms influenced by the positions of the moon, planets and stars. A holistic approach respects these forces and implements the use of special preparations instead of chemicals which enhance the growing conditions.
