Texture has always been of prime importance in NJV whites and natural fermented Semillon in new oak provided just that - a component that accentuated the complexity of the blend. Pure, finely textured, not overtly oaky, this blend also has the drinkability that Sauvignon delivers.
Newton Johnson Ressonans Soeveenyon/Semeeyon
Sauvignon Blanc makes up 80% of this wine with Semillon accounting for 20%. This wine is pure and clean with distinct flinty flavours and lime citrus fruit. There is a taste of nougat thanks to a small amount of time the Semillon spent in oak.
Zesty tropical and citrus fruit with deliciously elegant minerality makes this a thoroughly versatile wine.

The Newton Johnson family has been at the heart of Cape winemaking for many years, but only recently took the plunge in setting up its own estate. They are based near the seaside town of Hermanus, an hour and a half's drive out of Cape Town.
The choice of the cool, coastal region of Walker Bay reflects the family’s twin passions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir - as well as giving brothers Bevan and Gordy time to indulge their surfing obsession.
Their decision to also plant some Syrah and Mourvedre in the region may have raised a few eyebrows initially, but their faith has been borne out by the peppery Rhone-like wine that has resulted. It is a far cry from the usual fruit-bomb New World Shiraz, and is all the better for it.
