It has an almost impenetrable black colour and sweet dark cherry and plum aromas that need some aeration in the glass in order to develop fully. A sizeable and dense mouth feel with a concentrated and chewy texture is balanced by firm tannins and good acidity. It has a certain earthiness around the edges that adds an extra dimension to the wines appeal.
Traditional maceration of 20 days over the skins in small temperature regulated fermentation vats at 23/25°C. Malolactic fermentation in small oak casks.
Aged in oak barrels for 30 months followed by a further 20 months at least in bottle.

This is an unusual wine from the south of Italy made from the Aglianico grape variety. It is a very full-bodied wine, with jammy black fruit flavours and some earthiness. It would be great served with a hearty stew.

The focus is on local grapes such as Falanghina, Fiano and Aglianico, all of which pack a hefty punch of fruit.
