Patrick Piuze
“A truly thrilling new producer of hand-crafted Chablis.” Jancis Robinson MW
Patrick Piuze is something of an outsider in Chablis. A French-Canadian by birth, he caught the wine bug whilst managing a bar in Montreal and soon decided he wanted to get his hands dirty in the vineyards. After spells working for Verget and Olivier Leflaive, Patrick struck out on his own in 2008 setting up a micro-negociant business in Chablis. He is already regarded as one of the region’s hottest winemaking talents.
His philosophy is very simple: source small parcels of top notch grapes that truly reflect their terroir. What is unusual about Patrick is that he extends this approach out from 1er and Grand Cru wines to include generic AOC Chablis and in doing so is showing the variety, quality and potential that exists at this level.

What’s a Micro-Negociant?
Negociants are producers who buy in grapes to make wine. Many of the largest producers in the region use this model. Micro-negociants use the same approach on a quality-focused artisan-scale, often renting small parcels of vines from more famous growers.
