One of Beaujolais’ most important players
Mommesin are one of the most important producers in Beaujolais, with a portfolio of wines from across the region. The company’s success is based on its ability to balance quantity and quality, meaning it can produce sufficient volumes to meet the demands of the market place without sacrificing the consumer’s experience.
Away from Beaujolais, Mommesin also makes wine in the Rhone valley and most notable, Burgundy where it owns the world famous Grand Cru Clos du Tart vineyard.

Gamay Banned in Burgundy
Way back in 1395, the then Duke of Burgundy, Philippe the Bold, ordered all the Gamay in his dukedom should be ripped out in favour of Pinot Noir as it was “a very bad and disloyal plant.”
