Louis Bernard
Excellent value Rhone wines with a focus on organics
Louis Bernard produces a wide range of very good value wines from the southern Rhone. The house style emphasises fruit and drinkability with good concentration and supple, rounded tannins. The winery is based at the very picturesque Chartreuse de Bonpas, a 12th century convent located just outside of Avignon. Not a bad spot to commute to every day.
Louis Bernard farms 42ha of organically-farmed vineyards as well as buying in grapes from a wide range of contract growers. It is these long-term relationships that allow the winemaking team to produce consistent, reliable, high quality wines year after year.

Organic Viticulture
Growing organic grapes can involve such activity as avoiding chemical fungicides or pesticides, using natural fertilisers and encouraging biodiversity in the vineyard. To include the word ‘organic’ on the label, the grower must be certified by a recognised body.
