Domaine La Croix Belle
Great value producer from the Languedoc
Domaine La Croix Belle is a large 100ha estate situated in the lesser-known Cotes de Thongue region of the Languedoc. Established in 1794 and managed by Francoise and Jacques Boyer, the estate is set in the foothills of the Montagne Noire on fantastic soils - mostly gravels and pebbles, outside the historic town of Puissalicon near Beziers.
The vines are naturally low-yielding and the Boyer’s use a mechanised sorting table to ensure only the best fruit finds its way into the vats. The estate philosophy emphasises the importance of terroir but also of simple, unadulterated pleasure – these are ripe, refreshing, fruity wines that are a joy to drink. It is no surprise to us that the estate had picked up a number of ‘great value’ awards from top publications such as Wine Spectator.

Freedom fighting in the Cotes de Thongue
A few years ago, the winemakers of the Cotes de Thongue region were offered the chance to have their own Appellation Controlee but turned it down, as AOC status would have limited the freedom they had to make wines from whichever grapes they liked.
