Chateau Saint Louis La Perdrix
Chateau Saint Louis La Perdrix covers nearly 70ha of vines and olive trees, in the hills outside of Nimes and takes its name from the partridges (perdrix) that the old Dukes of Uzes used to hunt in the region.
Philippe Guillermin is the man at the helm in the cellars and he crafts excellent wines made from classic southern French grapes: Carignan, Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. The vineyards’ soils are composed of round pebbles similar to those found in Chateauneuf-du-Pape further north, and produce intense wines packed with spice and sunshine.

Romans and Crocodiles
Nimes has been famous for winemaking for over 2000 years. The area was settled by veterans of Julius Caesar's campaigns in Egypt, and bottles of Costieres de Nimes sometimes bear the symbol of the Roman settlement at Nîmes: a crocodile chained to a palm tree.
