Chateau Monestier La Tour
Bergerac at its best
Chateau Monestier La Tour, a 28ha estate in Monestier near Bergerac, was purchased in 1998 by Dutch entrepreneur Philip de Haseth-Moeller. Haseth-Moeller quickly set about restructuring the vineyards and restoring the historic chateau buildings, which date back to the 13th century. Since 2003, consultant winemaker Stephane Derenoncourt and consultant vViticulturalist Claude Bourguignon have helped catapult this chateau to the top echelons of Bergerac with great write-ups in France’s leading guide books.

Bit about Bergerac
Located on the Dordogne upstream from Bordeaux, Bergerac has a long winemaking history. The wines are similar in style to its more famous neighbour but are often better value for money, possessing a depth and freshness that many cheaper Bordeaux chateaux can only dream of.
