Single de Samalens
A new concept in Armagnac
Founded in 1882, the Maison Samalens is located in Laujuzan in the very heart of the best
Armagnac producing area: the Bas Armagnac in Gascony, South West France and is still today managed by Pierre Samalens the grandson of the original founder.
Rather than blending different grape styles within the wine that is used to produce their award winning Armagnac, Single de Samalens uses only a single grape: Ugni Blanc, known for its ability to produce spirits full of character after long periods of aging.
Following initial fermentation, Samalens applies its unique spirit making skills: during fermentation they use special yeasts, then using their rare double distillation techniques, which unusually distils the wine sur lees, it is possible to extract the most aromatic components and concentrate them to obtain a spirit that will ultimately be dry on the palate as well as smooth in the mouth.

Served over ice
Despite producing some of the highest quality Armagnac, Pierre wanted to produce a spirit with a wide international appeal like malt whisky. Produced to be dry on the palate, Single de Samalens is best served over ice.
