Time to take Chilean Pinot very seriously indeed
The Wines of Chile tasting a couple of weeks ago provided the perfect opportunity to taste through the range of Pinot Noirs from VC Family Estates. All from the cool Bio Bio region in the south of the country, they caused a bit of excitement for Jancis Robinson MW. Her reviews included below have been taken from www.jancisrobinson.com
Gracia de Chile, Reserva Superior Pinot Noir 2008 Bio Bio 16.5 Drink 2010-13
"Frenchman Louis Ballet made this. Aromatic, quite racy. Dry finish. Chewy, refreshing. GV - £7.49"
Agustinos, Reserva Pinot Noir 2008 Bio Bio 16 Drink 2010-11[/b]
"Straightforward, not too sweet with polished tannins and nice dry chewiness on the finish. GV - £7.99"
Vina Porta, Gran Reserva Pinot Noir 2008 Bio Bio 16.5+ Drink 2010-13[/b]
"Burgundian Louis Ballet made this. Excellent structure. More savoury than most Chilean Pinots. £9.99"
Veranda, Millerandage Pinot Noir 2007 Bio Bio 17+ Drink 2010-14[/b]
"Really pretty exciting, this as yet unlaunched wine from a selection of Chilean clones of Pinot Noir. Lovely balance and freshness with serious nuance. I also tasted a cask sample of the 2008 and found it rather painful to taste at this early stage. > £15"
We can't wait to take delivery of these wines - should be available online at the end of the year.Watch out Pinot lovers!
