Tasting Notes for Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 75cl:

The nose displays the characters of Great Southern Cabernet Sauvignon; dusty eartly tones with dark backcurrant fruits. High class cedary oak evident provides a savoury edge to the nose. The palate displays the benefit of the addition of the Margaret River Cabernet with sweet rich fruit displaying chocolatey and ripe berries to balance the leaner Great Southern Cabernet. Besutiful structure with real purity of fruit.

Press Coverage:

"Crunchy black fruits, leafy note, gentle spice. Underripe blackcurrants, very crisp acidity, corduroy-textured tannins, creamy oak, minty fruit."
, Decanter - 2006-02-01

Producer Information:

Howard Park is delighted to introduce a new winemaker for 2007, ex-Yalumba, Plantagenet and Millbrook star Tony Davis. With considerable experience in WA, and especially the Great Southern, Tony is an ideal choice to build on HP's success in recent years with Robert Parker being the latest to 'discover' the estate with a series of 90+ scores released in October. The wines have a purity of flavour and elegant structure that is difficult to achieve in Australia's warm climate and the style is wonderfully summed up by The Times' Jane Macquitty who described the 2005 Riesling as spiked with lime-zest and possessing "a lovely, long, tingling finish."
