Tasting Notes for Howard Park Riesling 2006 75cl:

"Some evolution already. Tight and bone dry." Jancis Robinson MW

More Press

Press Coverage:

"Quite refined... tight, savoury and herby with good acidity. Concentrated with nice fruit and good acidity. Lots of power here, but it’s refined."
Jamie Goode, Wine Anorak - 0000-00-00

Producer Information:

Howard Park is delighted to introduce a new winemaker for 2007, ex-Yalumba, Plantagenet and Millbrook star Tony Davis. With considerable experience in WA, and especially the Great Southern, Tony is an ideal choice to build on HP's success in recent years with Robert Parker being the latest to 'discover' the estate with a series of 90+ scores released in October. The wines have a purity of flavour and elegant structure that is difficult to achieve in Australia's warm climate and the style is wonderfully summed up by The Times' Jane Macquitty who described the 2005 Riesling as spiked with lime-zest and possessing "a lovely, long, tingling finish."

Vinification Details

The cool conditions through the year allowed the fruit to develop fine citrus and mineral flavours that Great Southern riesling is famous for. Additionally the lower temperatures meant that the fruit stayed on the vine for one to two weeks longer than is normal leading to greater concentration of flavour in the fruit.
