Tasting Notes for Deakin Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2006 75cl:
Light, dry and zesty with gooseberry, lime and freshly cut grass on the nose and palate. Full of zippy, citrus acidity it races into a long, refreshing finish.
Producer Information:
Named after a former Aussie Prime Minister who oversaw the transformation of Victoria’s Murray River region from arid, near desert into a major agricultural region, Deakin Estate was founded in the 1960s launching the current eponymous range in 1994. The Murray River region is one of Australia’s warmer regions and this is reflected in the bold, fruity, forward style of the wines.

The grapes are picked early to keep their acidity with winemaker Phil Spillman aiming to be "right on the edge of herbaceous, just moving in to sub-tropical. It’s a brilliant, fresh and pungent place to be."
Vinification Details
The key to the flavour of the wine is the grapes, and when they are harvested. The winemaking is simple, straightfoward and aims at ensuring all of the fruit is captured in the bottle. The wine is fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel and bottled young and fresh with no oak influence.
