Balfour Brut 2005 est arrive! - 14/03/2008
The mighty Balfour Brut Rose caused more than a little stir when it first turned up in Bibendum's portfolio just over a year ago. Here was a sparkling rose wine, made from Champagne's great grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with very definite aspirations of holding its own amongst the best that our French neighbours could offer.
We were not to be disappointed.
As soon as UK palates got a taste of it, the plaudits started flooding in.
Jamie Goode said it "stands comparison with top-flight Champagne" in the Sunday Express, while Anthony Rose in The Independent described the 2004 as "The most exclusive English fizz on the market, ... (with) a delicate onion-skin blush with fresh fragrance, tiny pinprick bubbles and a delicately dry, raspberryish flavour with a crisp, appley bite."
And now, the 2005 vintage has arrived, and deserves (in our opinion) even more fanfare. Dry, delicate fizz, subtle strawberry fruit and a delicious, long finish.
Try the 2005 for yourself! You won't be disappointed.
