Chinese Wine Comes to Bibendum - 14/02/2007

For those of you who have always struggled to find a wine match for chicken chop suey, peking duck or ginger beef, help may well be at hand. Bibendum is pleased to announce the imminent arrival of a pair of Chinese Wines, called Noble Dragon, which are produced at the country’s oldest winery, the Changyu Wine Company in Shandong Province.

They will not be made to resemble any other world-styles so will be unique, with aroma being key. Changyu is the oldest winery in the country and has made wine since 1892.

The wines will make their debut at the Bibendum Annual Tasting, on 24 January 2007 at the Royal Academy, London.

Bibendum Buying Manager (and the Scotsman of the trio) Iain Muggoch says

“From its inception this has been as inspiring as it has been innovative and exciting. With Lenz’s unbounded enthusiasm for all things vinous how could I not have become entwined in the mystery of the Orient. Lots of blend tweaks later, some oriental label design and surprisingly positive pressure from the sales team to get it right, I am delighted that we are now able to add China to the Bibendum portfolio. Roll on Beijing 2008.”

For those of you who have always struggled to find a wine match for chicken chop suey, peking duck or ginger beef, help may well be at hand. Bibendum is pleased to announce the imminent arrival of a pair of Chinese Wines, called Noble Dragon, which are produced at the country's oldest winery, the Changyu Wine Company in Shandong Province, in association with Lenz Moser of Austria.

They have not been made to resemble any other world-styles so will be unique, with aroma being key. Changyu has been producing wine continuously since 1892.

The wines made their debut at the Bibendum Annual Tasting in January, with stock set to arrive in April.
