Ridgeview – world-class sparkling wine from Sussex

Sales of English sparkling wine more than doubled between 2010 and 2015, and more than a tenth of Brits now say England makes the best quality wine in the world - ahead of Spain, South Africa and New Zealand. So it’s time to ensure this category is represented on your wine list.

Ridgeview was founded in 1995 by Mike and Chris Roberts, who wanted to make top quality English sparkling wine using traditional Champagne grapes and winemaking techniques in Sussex.

In just 15 years their outstanding wines have been awarded over 250 medals and 27 trophies in both international and national competitions, including the prestigious English Wine of the Year title no fewer than four times. In 2010 they were awarded the trophy for Best Sparkling Wine in the World at the Decanter World Wine awards, the only time this trophy has been awarded to a wine outside Champagne. Mike was chair of English Wine Producers and awarded an MBE for his services to English wine in 2011.

Today Ridgeview is still very much a family-run business, with Mike and Chris’ daughter Tamara and son Simon taking up key roles in management and winemaking. Like their parents, their aim is to continue to develop Ridgeview as a pioneer within the English wine industry, enabling continued growth and securing its future.

Under their direction these prestigious wines have been served in some fittingly prestigious places. Earlier this year Ridgeview was served at Buckingham Palace for the official Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, as well as at a high profile State Banquet for the Chinese President. Ridgeview Bloomsbury is also now the official reception wine at 10 Downing Street.

With the popularity of English sparkling wine soaring in recent years, make sure your wine list includes some of the best. Contact your Account Manager for more information.
