Bruno Paillard Premiere Cuvee Brut Rosé NV

Bruno Paillard Rose

A fizzy pink wine isn't just for Valentine’s Day.

Bruno Paillard Brut Premiere Rosé NV is a lovely drop. Pale pink and very pretty, it comes from one of Champagne’s most interesting houses.

Unlike the famous Grandes Marques, Paillard is not an old house with roots stretching back to the Revolution but was founded in the 1981 when young Bruno flogged his prized Jag to raise the capital. It was the first Champagne house to be founded for over a century.

Bruno Paillard RoseFast forward three decades and Bruno is one of the most important players in the region. The house owns over 25ha of top vineyards with parcels in ten Grand Cru villages.

The Paillard style emphasises freshness, purity and elegance above all else.

This is a beautiful rosé full of gentle red berry fruit, taut acidity and just the merest hint of cream. It is light enough to make an excellent aperitif and gutsy enough to stand up to food. I’ve never tried it with oysters but I bet it works pretty damn well.
