Boozy Desserts

Affogato and Hardshake

From affogato to hard shakes, add a little spirit to boost your after-dinner sales.

With over 2.45 billion cups of coffee consumed outside the home, the UK certainly has a real thirst for coffee.  Coupled with the growth in spirit and cocktail sales over the last two years, the boozy affogato must be the perfect dessert. Affogato literally means ‘drowned’ in Italian, which is a fitting name as the recipe is simply vanilla ice cream doused in espresso.

We’ve created three recipes to spice up the classic affogato with the addition of sherry, orange curacao and hazelnut liqueur.  It’s the perfect way to tempt diners who may not want to order a dessert or digestif.  Plus it’s simple, quick and easy to serve.

Add a little spirit to a milkshake and it becomes a hardshake.  They’re popping up in bars and restaurants all over the UK and it’s no surprise.  They’re easy to make, just throw all the ingredients into a blender and then serve in a mason jar.  What’s not to like about a boozy milkshake?
