Some Pictures from the Wine Future Conference in Rioja
November 13th, 2009
Some of the biggest wine bods on the planet have gathered over the last couple ofdays to discuss the future of wine. With the power and reach of Twitter and live blogging, the rest of the world has been able to follow what’s going on (should they be that way inclined!). It sounds like there were highlights, especially presentations from Gary Vaynerchuk (top picture, far left), Robert Joseph and Ryan Opaz (top picture, 2nd from left), and then a lot of turgid corporate nonsense from others. Perhaps those with really really good ideas are keeping them to themselves for the moment….hmmm….
Anyway, here are some photos sent back by our champion sommelier, Bruno Murciano (pictured pouring below), who has been there helping to organise and execute Robert Parker Jnr’s gala tasting last night. A tutored sit-down tasting for 530 people – apparently the largest ever in Europe!

Great photos! Sadly, we weren’t as successful in that department at the conference, but I’m glad someone was. Just a quick note that if anyone is interested in reading the live blog, it’s archived and searchable.
Have a great weekend.

Thanks Gabriella – No doubt you were very busy communicating the conference to eager readers on the web. Great coverage as always!
Everyone, if you haven’t checked out the Catavino site yet…go now!
