European Wine Bloggers Conference
October 28th, 2009

(Last year’s EWBCers. Looks like we’ve grown!)
You know when you’re so excited that you’d tackle Santa if you saw him, or you’d drink a bit too much before the start of the World Cup Final? Well that is where I’m at right now. The European Wine Bloggers Conference kicks off in Lisbon on Friday with a range of seminars, tastings, dinners and chatettes (btw a chatette is a small chat).
One thing is for sure, the 124 registered participants from across Europe and the US aren’t going to struggle for things to say. They are professional sayers. It will be say-central.
Topics to be covered over the weekend include:
Blogging and the Social Wine Brand
Social media to better reach your audience? (Using social networks, twitter, AbleGrape, etc. to raise your profile)
Video blogging: How is video changing the online wine landscape?
Blogging 101 – essentials, tips and Q&A

Extra excitement for me comes in the form of participation in a couple of the seminars. I will be moderating Winery and Wine Blog Relations and will be looking for a fair fight from all the participants. Then later on in the afternoon I will be presenting at the Monetising the Social Wine Brand session. Am expecting dynamite, blood-curdling screams and tough questions in that one. Does anyone make any money out of wine and social media? I imagine that’s the extra spicy, super-hot burning question for most. Intriguing…
Elsewhere we will be treated to great tastings from Charles Metcalfe and the Douro Boys. A feast for all the senses, literally.
So look out for a wealth of material on all these topics all over the blogosphere in the coming weeks. Oh and if we sort out world peace and swine flu to boot don’t be too surprised. Right, off to pack my video camera and my beach ball. See you on the other side.

You in the stripey orange dress, me with the chicken and broken arm. I can promise 1 thing, one of these 2 elements will NOT be the picture this year

Denise – It really is an invasion isn’t it. Think videoblogging is going to clash with one of mine sadly…though you have that Daniele del Gesso dude speaking and he looks seriously cool.
Ryan and Gabriella – thanks for all your organisational powers. So excited…looking forward to seeing chickens and hundreds of boxes of wine!
