ISO 14001 Certified

ISO 14001 is the leading international certification for environmental management systems (EMS). It is only awarded to organisations which have undergone a rigorous auditing process evaluating the effectiveness of their environmental policies.

In order to meet the standards of ISO 14001, Bibendum has improved its policies and activity with regards to general waste, paper use, supply chain, energy consumption and travel.

Bibendum Managing Director, Michael Saunders, said: “Receiving ISO 14001 is fantastic news for Bibendum, underlining our commitment to reducing the impact across every aspect of the business on the environment.”

Lilian Rushaigo of environmental consultants Envido, said “Bibendum are the first wine company we have worked with toward ISO 14001 certification. We found their enthusiasm and passion for the environment and sustainable processes extremely positive. We look forward to seeing their continued efforts build on the foundations set in place by this environmental management system in years to come.”

How it works

We identified the areas of our business where we have a significant impact on the environment. This has enabled us to measure our effects and set targets for improvement in areas such as waste, energy use,  travel, purchasing and supply chain. See Our Commitments for details.

We spent a considerable amount of time ensuring that we and our partners, in particular for waste collection and recycling, are compliant with environmental legislation.

Communication is a key component of the certification process. We have used the implementation of the EMS as a springboard for sending clear messages to our colleagues with simple advice on how changing their behaviour can make a difference.

ISO 14001 is a continuous process of improvement with yearly audits so we will continually re-assess our areas of impact and measure whether we have met our results.
