Bibendum Europe
Bibendum Europe was founded in 2005 when we teamed up with great Dane, Lars Venborg to create a new export department.
The big idea was to create a cost-efficient, producer-shared export team that could work as a brand owner’s representative in key markets. Lars’s background, working with successful wine brands across the continent, made him the ideal choice to head up the project.
What started as a ‘one man and two producer’ operation, has developed into a team of four people, with over sixty years combined industry experience, managing the European distribution for five strategic brand owners, complemented by a handful of smaller, more boutique suppliers.
Today Bibendum Europe sells over 4 million bottles to 84 distributors in over 30 countries. A pretty amazing result from a standing start just five years ago.
The portfolio has a strong New World focus and includes partners such as the Argento Wine Company (Argentina), Lion Nathan Wines (New Zealand and Australia), Shottesbrooke (Australia), Dos Andes (Chile and Argentina), Maola (Chile), Vondeling (South Africa), SAAM Mountain Vineyards (South Africa), Bisol (Italy), Chateau du Seuil (France), Walnut Block (New Zealand), Marotti Campi (Italy) and Miolo (Brazil).
The team’s definition of ‘Europe’ has also stretched a bit over the years, as they have start working in markets in the Middle East as well as continental Europe. Today, the team covers an area that forms a triangle with Iceland, Russia and the UAE as its three corners, and distributes in all major channels: on trade and specialised off trade, Scandinavian monopolies, multiple retail and duty free.
The multicultural and multilingual team are base between UK and France, and all have a great understanding of the intricacies and differences between the key markets they work with.
